Junior Customs Manager (m/f/d)

JOIN OUR TEAM
As Junior Customs Manager you will support and strengthen our customs operations and compliance efforts across key trade routes. You will work closely with logistics, procurement and trade compliance teams to ensure smooth import and export procedures, particularly between China, India and the European Union. This role is ideal for someone with initial hands-on experience in customs who is eager to grow their expertise in international trade and regulatory compliance. You will also help us stay ahead of evolving requirements such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The position is permanent and based in Munich.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • support day-to-day customs clearance processes for imports from China and India into the EU
  • assist with the setup and execution of export customs procedures from the EU to other regions
  • ensure documentation is accurate and compliant with EU customs regulations and maintain correct tariff codes, product classifications and country of origin data
  • liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders and relevant authorities to resolve clearance issues
  • collaborate with internal teams such as logistics, procurement and legal to ensure accurate and up-to-date trade-related records
  • support compliance with customs legislation including EUDR and assist with internal audits and customs filings
  • stay informed about changes in trade regulations and customs law that impact our operations
YOU COME WITH
  • a bachelor's degree in international trade, logistics, business administration or a related field, combined with 1–2 years of experience in a customs, trade compliance or import/export role
  • familiarity with EU import procedures, ideally including trade lanes with China and India, and first exposure to export processes from the EU
  • a basic understanding of customs documentation, HS codes, Incoterms and country of origin rules, as well as interest in or familiarity with EUDR and other EU sustainability regulations
  • detail-oriented and well-organised working style with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • proficiency in German and English; additional language skills such as Mandarin or French are a plus
